Some number of heroes has to sit at a site for some number of days. It's a thing that can be completed, and then there may be further steps.

Completing an overland job generally requires having the heroes perform labor at the location. Labor is measured in hero-days: if a job would take 60 hero-days, then that's about how long it takes one hero to do it. Two heroes take about 30 days, three heroes take about 20 days, and so on.

Different heroes have different speed factors for performing different jobs. Hunters are better at Scouting, Mystics are better at Securing, Warriors are better at building Barricades. Individual hero's effectiveness can also vary according to their age, speed, charisma, abilities, and other factors. Some jobs get full benefit from everyone working on the job, like Securing sites, while other jobs have diminishing returns from numbers, like Scouting. When you assign a particular group to do a job, the game will predict how long that crew will take.

Scout

Scout the tile to reveal the terrain and any lurking threats. Primarily a job for hunters.

labor = 16 hero-days
speed_factor = { 0.8×(1 + speed/10) for hunters, (0.08×(speed) for everybody else}
helper_contribution = 20%

Patrol

Clear out any infestations on this tile.

labor = 60 hero-days
speed_factor = 1
helper_contribution = 50%

Assault

Begins an assault mission immediately, or as soon as all selected heroes arrive.

Make a once-hostile wild land safe and functional as quickly as possible. The fast option when choosing to take control of territory. The territory becomes civilized, safe for the heroes' people. Securing a site earns resources that can be spent in the next interval to upgrade gear.

labor = 75 hero-days
speed_factor = { 2 for mystics, 1 for everybody else}
helper_contribution = 100%

speed_factor = 1
helper_contribution = 100%

Gather

All selected heroes will travel to the territory to meet up for whatever comes next.

Assemble Barricades to make this tile easier to defend

labor = 20 hero-days
speed_factor = { 2 for warriors, 1 for everybody else}
helper_contribution = 70%

Train and equip archers from the local population, to make this tile easier to defend.

labor = 20 hero-days

helper_contribution = 70%

e.g. A hero with 5 speed, 5 health, and 50 charisma will be perfectly average at building.

Pass

If a line of mountains between territories is impassable the party can carve a pass through it. Click on the mountain border itself to begin the job. The more party members assigned to this job, the quicker it is.
