Calamity cards strengthen the enemy's monster deck. Calamity effects include:
- increasing a monster's health, armor, damage, or range
- replacing monsters with more powerful variants
- adding new types of monsters to battles
- introducing monster abilities that can stun, hobble, or corrupt heroes
