One of the heroes reminisces about their mentor - a healer who travelled to help people affected by gorgons, but was eaten by a bear.
This triggers a solo battle. The "choices" in this event are how the player chooses to battle - defeat the bear, escape, or be defeated by the bear.
Choices
1. Win the battle.
Outcome The spirits trapped by the ghost bear are freed. Hero becomes beartouched.
2. Escape the battle.
Outcome Flee and leave the ghost bear unharmed.
3. Be defeated in battle.
Outcome The hero dies, and the party vows they be avenged (which they do in a tiding).
Trivia
This event can occur once per campaign, in chapter 2 or later, but only in grassland, mountains, or hills biomes. Highest personality scoring hero, who is friends with another hero.
