An old set of equipment descriptions:

[Weapon]

Tier: Basic

- The <Weapon Type> bears nicks and scratches, but remains well-weighted, and appropriately strong. - A single crack flaws the surface of the <Weapon Type>, inhibiting it from being the weapon it could have been. - This <Weapon Type> is discolored because of some inconsistency in the ore, and the balance is good but sometimes fickle.

Tier: Fine

- Now this is a <Weapon Type>! It turns in the air with the grace and swiftness of a feather. - A <Weapon Type> of true quality, little effort went into making it beautiful. Death was the smith's singular purpose. - The eyes are drawn to a <Weapon Type> like this: its shape is lovingly rendered, its goal unquestionably is violence.

Tier: Artifact

- <Weapon Name> shimmers under torchlight like it was made of fairywings, and flies with the ease and brutality of icy wind. - This is <Weapon Name>, of song, of myth, of rumor. Few were ever made as pure and unequivocally deadly as this. - Ah, <Weapon Name>! What <Weapon Type> could lay beside such a functional piece of art as this?

[Armor]

Tier: Basic

- The <Armor Type> appears bruised with use or poor craftsmanship, but is still functional, still solid. - It feels doubtful this <Armor Type> could turn a blade thrust with extreme prejudice, but hopefully appearances are deceiving. - What are those, rosettes? Whoever crafted this <Armor Type> was apparently at odds with the armor-wearing world.

Tier: Fine

- This <Armor Type> fits snugly and rests well on the frame; truly a fine piece of work. - Fancy scrollwork can't change the impression this <Armor Type> gives: here is a blade-stopper, a wall against pain. - The <Armor Type> rings when struck, clear as bells, and the work is obviously great, a wondrous effort.

Tier: Artifact

- When the poetess, Bruelle, wore <Armor Name> into curtains of dragonfire, she emerged unscathed. It seems strangely believable. - <Armor Name> flirts with the eye like the nymphic statues of Old Lewd Lewman. That is, if you happen to like <Armor Type>. - Oh, to be a hammer that struck <Armor Name> in its making! That would be to know the touch of perfection being born.

And old set of equipment histories:

Basic Melee Weapon The <Weapon Type> bears nicks and scratches, but remains well-weighted, and appropriately strong. A single crack flaws the surface of the <Weapon Type>, inhibiting it from being the weapon it could have been. This <Weapon Type> is discolored because of some inconsistency in the ore, and the balance is good but sometimes fickle.

Basic Bow The bow seems to twist just a bit when pulled. Straight shots are possible with effort. The bow is well shaped but too light, too easy to pull.

Basic Shield The shield is sturdy, but awkward to hold. The shield seems a bit light. Hopefully it will serve.

Basic Wand A short and plain stick of Cherry, grudgingly channels the Mystic's intention. A thin and flexible wand of Hickory, it never seems too sure of where it's pointed.

Basic Staff A rough-cut Oak sapling, it sullen form carries potent magic. This old Fir branch yawns with boredom.

Basic Light Armor The <Armor Type> appears bruised with use or poor craftsmanship, but is still functional, still solid. It feels doubtful this <Armor Type> could turn a blade thrust with extreme prejudice, but hopefully appearances are deceiving. What are those, rosettes? Whoever crafted this <Armor Type> was apparently at odds with the armor-wearing world.

Basic Heavy Armor The <Armor Type> appears bruised with use or poor craftsmanship, but is still functional, still solid. It feels doubtful this <Armor Type> could turn a hard blade thrust, but appearances can be deceiving. What are those, rosettes? Whoever crafted this <Armor Type> was apparently at odds with the armor-wearing world.

Fine Melee Weapon Now this is a <Weapon Type>! It turns in the air with the grace and swiftness of a feather. A <Weapon Type> of true quality, little effort went into making it beautiful. Death was the smith's singular purpose. The eyes are drawn to a <Weapon Type> like this: its shape is lovingly rendered, its goal unquestionably is violence.

Fine Bow A bow of simple and brilliant design, made with highest quality wood. A delight to shoot. A bit stiff at first, but this bow really opens up when the music starts and the blood is flowing.

Fine Shield Wood, metal and leather make up this sturdy, thoughtful shield. This shield was clearly crafted to save the life of a dearly loved combatant.

Fine Wand Ash. Perfectly round, perfectly straight, perfectly deadly. Redwood. Oversized and pleasantly contoured, inlaid with a gold rule along its length. A happy wand. Cypress. A gnarled and twisted form, polished with years of exacting use.

Fine Staff This perfectly formed Walnut staff seems to dance and bubble with glee, even when leaned at rest against a wall. Cedar is known as a soft wood, but that is not the impression this fine staff gives. This Oakheart staff is always warm to the touch, and it's form seems to whisper fascinating secrets.

Fine Light Armor This <Armor Type> fits snugly and rests well on the frame; truly a fine piece of work. Fancy scrollwork can't change the impression this <Armor Type> gives: here is a blade-stopper, a wall against pain. Stiff and hard on the outside, supple and lithe on the inside, an excellent work.

Fine Heavy Armor This <Armor Type> fits snugly and rests well on the frame; truly a fine piece of work. Fancy scrollwork can't change the impression this <Armor Type> gives: here is a blade-stopper, a wall against pain. The <Armor Type> rings when struck, clear as bells, and the work is obviously great, a wondrous effort.

Artifact Melee Weapon Found <Weapon Name> shimmers under torchlight like it was made of fairywings, and flies with the ease and brutality of icy wind. This is <Weapon Name>, of song, of myth, of rumor. Few were ever made as pure and unequivocally deadly as this. Ah, <Weapon Name>! What <Weapon Type> could lay beside such a functional piece of art as this?

Artifact Bow Found Pernicious black curves identify this bow as the legendary <ItemName>, bane of heroes. It seems spiteful even now. Few possess the strength to fire <ItemName>, none can withstand its onslaught. <LegendaryHunter> was said to have crafted <ItemName> from Dragonbone in order to slay an unnamed fear.

Artifact Shield Found <ItemName> guarded <LegendaryWarrior> from the Gorgon, from the Serpent, and from the Scorpion. <ItemName> shines like the sun in the dimmest light, strong and defiant.

Artifact Wand Found Do not touch <ItemName>! <LegendaryMystic> planted a Redwood on the highest mountain in the Yondering. It was struck by lightning a thousand times. <ItemName> remains. <ItemName> is said to have seen old Ruarch wink. Holding it seems to invite play, to dare dreams.

Artifact Staff Found It is rumored that <LegendaryMystic> sang songs to the Beech trees for years until <ItemName> was dropped, fully formed, from the branches. None but <Owner> dare to look upon <ItemName> for too long, much less to touch it. Some complain of strange buzzing sounds or headaches when <ItemName> is in the room for too long.

Artifact Light Armor Found When the poetess, Bruelle, wore <Armor Name> into curtains of dragonfire, she emerged unscathed. It seems strangely believable. <Armor Name> flirts with the eye like the nymphic statues of Old Lewd Lewman. That is, if you happen to like <Armor Type>. <Armor Name> passes like a silent shadow over the battlefield, just as in the stories.

Artifact Heavy Armor Found When the poetess, Bruelle, wore <Armor Name> into curtains of dragonfire, she emerged unscathed. It seems strangely believable. <Armor Name> flirts with the eye like the nymphic statues of Old Lewd Lewman. That is, if you happen to like <Armor Type>. Oh, to be a hammer that struck <Armor Name> in its making! That would be to know the touch of perfection being born.
