A data store for the player’s accomplishments, including [[achievement]]s, [[hero]]es, and [[equipment]]. Anything that can be unlocked is notionally stored in the player’s Legacy, and the Legacy can be queried during the game for purposes of unlocking content, providing relevant legends, etc.

Legacy heroes can be [[Hero#Legacy_recruits|recruit]]ed in subsequent games at a cost of legacy points.
Legacy heroes can be [[recruit]]ed in subsequent games instead of new random farmers by paying extra legacy points depending on their legacy tier.
 
There is no limit to the number of characters that can be stored in legacy, and the only reason not to save them is if they are uninteresting and you don't feel like seeing them again. Characters can be deleted from legacy if it gets overcrowded.
