If the splinter is successfully removed, the following is added to the Hero's history:

For a while, <Hero> carried a long, blood-heavy splinter, pulled from their own body. It knocked around in a little leather pouch at their belt.

If the splinter is removed and the hero subsequently faces a mortal choice, the event The Jealousy of Trees will instead occur.
