While patrolling in the mist, two heroes as captured by Deepists. They are caged along with an old automaton equipped with a shovel.
Choices
1. SNAG!
- 1.1 <Hero> and <Hero> play dead and attempt to ambush their captors.
Outcome Success: The two captured heroes begin battle with Nausea (all party members lose 1 hitpoint), and the battle starts with Endurance (all party members gain +1 armor and +1 warding). They fight a Murk Mother and the third volunteer (if present) joins them.
Failure: The two heroes begin battle with Nausea (all party members lose 1 hitpoint), and the battle starts with Intimidation (all foes suffer 2 damage to start the mission). They fight two of The Woken and the third volunteer does not participate.
- 1.2 <Hero> amputates <Hero>'s arm, and they use the materials to fix the Morthagi digger.
Outcome The hero loses their left arm to activate the old robot. The robot Erklebits leads them out of the cage and will join fights along with the hero. Erklebits does not persist through legacy. Afterwards, the following is added to the hero's history: Captured by Deepists, they sacrificed a limb to save their own life, and the life of their companion, <Hero>.
2. "Foggy night. Brave enough to go out there?" "Not really."
Outcome Decline the opportunity.
